World Play Week!

Altough I don't live no longer in Brazil, I keep track of events related to infancy and I'm happy with initiatives like this one. The "World Play Week" began yesterday and will end on May 28th, and it's a week of mobilization encouraged by the Aliança pela Infância no Brasil (Alliance for Childhood in Brazil) and by the partner counties.

This mobilization is a gathering of different people such as parents, educators, doctors, communicators, private institutions, representatives of government institutions and others. Together they carry out a set of actions with the aim of highlighting the importance of "playing" in our society.

The purpose of this week is to remember adults of the need to preserve and respect the time for playing of children, looking to contribute to increase the awareness and consciousness of the importance of playing, and the respect we should show for this action and share the impact of the consequences of having less and less time for this childhood activity.

The celebrations take place in all centers of the Alliance for Children and in the municipalities that come into contact with the national management of the Alliance for Children to develop partnership actions.

Activities take place in the mornings and afternoons with workshops and open spaces for games, music, plastic arts, theater, dances, circus, reading, storytelling, traditional cultural events and free activities in play spaces with unstructured toys. For adults, there are lectures and discussions about this issue.
