Leisure on the expat's life!

Whether are men or women, single or married at some point on the your process of adaptation in a new country you'll feel the pressure imposed by family, friends and often by ourselves!

Everyone has an opinion or advice to share and that is great, but it needs to be done with respect and moderation. However we also need to reflect when the pressure and demands come from within.

At this point you need to reflect on what you've done so far, the gains you've made, the experiences - good or bad - and what you can still do. You must be calm and give it some time, without trying to do everything at once.

Recognize your efforts, believe in your work and relax. Yes, just relax! Try to use your time doing something to decrease stress, such as walking with your dog, starting a dancing class, or doing some sport.

Leisure time is a priority in the lives of expats! If for you leisure time and doing nothing sounds wrong, forget it! Our body and mind needs this time to run efficiently.

Without leisure time we can’t found the work-life balance in our lives and without this balance we can’t be productive, healthy and sometimes happy. When I mention work, I do not include only 9-to-5 jobs, but also those who stay at home working.

The leisure time can mean many things to different people. To some of us it means cycling, running or jogging, but whatever it is, it's time for yourself. When we relax, our level of anxiety and stress decreases and so we can deal with the balance between life and work more efficiently.

See you next time,
Laura
